Summary

At Awana, we believe in the power and importance of shaping faith, inspiring action, and igniting the hearts of the next generation. As a Video Editor, you will play a key role in bringing those stories to life that do just that—helping kids, families, and leaders around the world experience the Gospel in fresh, compelling ways.

In this role, you will craft dynamic video content for a variety of platforms and audiences—from discipleship curriculum and leader training to social media, sales, and marketing initiatives. Your primary focus will be on post-production, where you’ll collaborate closely with our Creative and Communications teams (and other ministry partners) to produce videos that are not only visually excellent, but missionally aligned.

We’re looking for someone who sees video not just as a product, but as a powerful tool in our mission of equipping leaders to reach kids the gospel and engage them in lifelong discipleship.

This position is primarily remote with occasional travel required based on strategic organizational meetings/events. Primary travel locations would be our offices in St. Charles, IL or Nashville, TN.

Hiring Range for this position is: $46,600 to $56,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:

Video Editing and Post-Production

  • Independently edit video content, ensuring it aligns with the ministry’s brand, vision and goals.
  • Organize files, sync sound with visuals, select music, and add closed captions and motion graphics.
  • Mix sound and color grades and make adjustments based on feedback.
  • Shoot and independently edit assigned video content.

Collaboration and Creative Input

  • Collaborate with the Video team and staff to conceptualize, produce, and deliver engaging video content.
  • Provide creative input and suggestions for enhancing video content.

Production Support

  • Provide assistance to the Creative team during production, specifically emphasizing audio recording.
  • Handle lights, cameras, set design, and troubleshoot any on-set issues that may arise.
  • On-set production assistance as needed, including setting up and dismantling production equipment.

Media Management and Organizational Standards

  • Develop, maintain, and organize the organization's media archive.
  • Uphold Awana cultural values in all internal and external communications and relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need:

  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of related experience in video editing. 
  • Certificate/Associate’s/Bachelor's degree in film or media studies as a plus.
  • Proficiency in video editing software such as Premiere Pro, Audition, Media Encoder, and Davinci Resolve.
  • Experience shooting video, with proficiency in operating cameras and related equipment, preferred.
  • Willingness to contribute on-set during shoots, taking on various roles as part of a resourceful, collaborative team filming on location.
  • Experience in editing live events, interviews, corporate promos, or social media content is preferred.
  • Intermediate Google Suite skills, preferred.
  • A deep passion for video editing and storytelling.
  • Familiarity with proxy workflows is a plus.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Valid State driver’s license.  
  • A Valid US Passport is required.
  • General understanding of the Bible and the Christian Church in its various expressions is preferred.
  • Experience with Awana Club, curriculum, resources, & solutions is a plus! 
  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required; this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions 

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to communicate. The team member is also required to regularly utilize computer equipment (e.g., screens and keyboards) to perform work. Awana recommends maintaining ergonomic posture, utilizing properly positioned computer equipment to minimize strain, and taking regular breaks to stretch and move around. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee is regularly required to move about the work environment, including climbing, crouching, and kneeling, often with equipment in use. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Local and out-of-town, overnight travel is required.
